In an environment where spirituality and art intertwined, the Altos de Chavón Art Gallery officially opened the exhibition “Ephemeral” by renowned Spanish artist Matoya-Martínez Echevarría. The event took place on Wednesday, April 1st, in a new gallery space located at La Marina de Casa de Campo.

The exhibition, born from a special invitation from the Fanjul Family, represents a transcendental achievement in Matoya's career, whose work is characterized by being an echo of a transformed life and a reflection of her own rebirth. What began as an instinctive and self-taught passion has evolved into a visual language that transcends the visible to connect with the deepest emotions of the viewer.

During the opening ceremony, which began at 6:30 p.m., prominent figures from the Casa de Campo community gathered and witnessed an evening filled with symbolism. One of the most emotional moments of the night was the participation of Victoria Vázquez, the artist's daughter, who performed two musical pieces linked to the exhibition's narrative. Vázquez shared with the attendees how faith, life testimonies, and music have been the driving forces behind the creation of each of her mother's pieces.

Art as a testament to the soul

Matoya-Martínez Echevarría's aesthetic proposal is notable for its technical freedom. Unbound by academic schools, the artist uses a palette of organic colors—blues, greens, whites, grays, and stone tones—that evoke serenity and nature. Her creative process is equally sensory, employing spatulas, her own hands, and even fire to give texture and soul to her canvases.

The exhibition will be open to the public until April 9th.
