Last Saturday, February 22, 2025, the traditional thank-you dinner for the generous donors of the Phyllis Berney Adopt-A-Crib Program was held, benefiting the Hogar del Niño. The event, organized by Mrs. Xiomara Menéndez and her husband Ramón at La Marina Riverside, Casa de Campo, brought together collaborators committed to the mission of ensuring the well-being and education of more than 2,000 children.
Founded in 1998 by Ms. Phyllis Berney, this program has become the largest source of income for the center, enabling the continuation of its essential services, such as nutrition, healthcare, psychological support, and innovative technology-focused education. Thanks to this initiative, Hogar del Niño has managed to expand and improve its facilities, consolidating itself as the most comprehensive educational and social center in the Dominican Republic.
Over the course of 27 years, the program has raised more than US$24,300,000.00, including, for the first time, a contribution of more than US$2 million in the last year alone. Inspired by the vision of Ms. Berney, who stated that “Hogar del Niño is the heartbeat that gives hope for the future,” donors have enabled thousands of children to receive the quality care and education they deserve.
“Adopting a crib is investing in the future.” Phyllis Berney
