The Jenny Polanco store in Altos de Chavón was the venue for the inaugural event of the Exhibition of Endemic and Native Bird Handicrafts of the Dominican Republic, a cultural and artistic event that pays homage to the country's natural richness through art and craftsmanship.
The exhibition is held under the coordination of the Jenny Polanco Foundation, with the participation of outstanding wood artisans from the community of San Cristóbal: Juan Puello, David Puello, and Cristino Rosario, who presented unique carvings that accurately capture the majesty of Dominican birds. Joining them is the talent of visual artist, artisan, and painter Rickee Estrada, who contributed painted pieces that dialogue with artisanal tradition and artistic contemporaneity.
The exhibition was curated by cultural manager José de Ferrari Curiel, who highlighted the importance of making visible, through art, the biodiversity and natural heritage of the Dominican Republic, while strengthening the link between local craftsmanship and fashion, a hallmark of Jenny Polanco's vision.
The inauguration brought together special guests, lovers of art, nature, and culture, who were able to appreciate up close the works that exalt emblematic species of the island, while also promoting environmental preservation and support for national artisanal talent.
The Altos de Chavón Management, along with its work team, provided strategic support throughout the event's execution, reaffirming their commitment to the initiative.
With this project, the Jenny Polanco Foundation reaffirms its commitment to fostering initiatives that integrate art, design, and community, creating bridges between tradition and modernity, and offering spaces for the projection of Dominican artisans.
The Exhibition of Endemic and Native Birds of the Dominican Republic will remain open to the public at the Jenny Polanco store in Altos de Chavón until October 31st, inviting everyone to discover and appreciate the island's natural beauty transformed into art.
