On Friday, November 8, the Altos de Chavón Art Gallery opened its doors to the exhibition «Probable Alphabets» by architect and painter Gianfranco Fini. The exhibition, which will be available to the public until November 28, features a series of 38 works that explore early attempts at human communication through strokes and symbols.

The opening event, celebrated with an exclusive cocktail reception, was attended by various personalities from the Casa de Campo community, as well as distinguished figures from the national art scene. The exhibition has been met with great enthusiasm, not only for Fini's artistic quality but also for the deep affection and appreciation the Casa de Campo community holds for him, thanks to his valuable contributions to the complex's architectural development.

A tribute to the origins of communication

Fini's work, painted on canvas using acrylic and oil techniques, invites reflection on the origin of languages and the earliest forms of human expression. The strokes and symbols that make up his pieces emulate the primitive signs used by early humans in their first attempts to communicate, from marks on clay to cave paintings. In the artist's own words, «my intention is to seek signs and a possible language, positioning myself in front of the canvas or paper with the same innocence that children have, but with the baggage of my sensitivity and knowledge.».

During the evening, a talk took place between Fini and the manager of Altos de Chavón, Luciana Goldfain, in which the artist reflected in front of a large audience on his career and the creative process behind «Alfabetos Probables.» In the conversation, Fini highlighted the similarity between his strokes and children's scribbles, emphasizing that, although simple, these signs represent a profound desire for expression that transcends time and culture.

One of Fini's works will be dedicated to a charitable cause: the artist has donated one of the pieces on display to the Fundemar Foundation, an organization committed to the conservation and protection of marine resources.

A renewed space

The Gianfranco Fini exhibition also marks the reopening of the art gallery, which has recently been renovated to offer a more comfortable and appealing experience to visitors. The management of Altos de Chavón has made a series of improvements, including the installation of air conditioning, glass doors on both levels, beautification of the bathrooms, and improved lighting, which elevates the quality of the experience within the space. Additionally, a small conference center has been set up on the second level, intended for workshops, courses, and other cultural activities.
