The Altos de Chavón Art Gallery inaugurated last Friday, September 18, 2026, the exhibition "Custodians of the Canon in Glass," by Dominican artist Frank Lara, a proposal that brings together paintings, illustrations, and drawings inspired by the evolution of the sacred, spirituality, and thought.
The opening was attended by approximately 68 people, including residents and visitors from the Casa de Campo and La Romana community, who were able to learn about a proposal that establishes a dialogue between the past and the present, exploring the relationship of human beings with the spiritual and with the ideals of beauty, harmony, and perfection.
The exhibition proposes a journey that starts from ancestral practices and extends toward philosophy and contemporary thought. Through young figures inspired by the Greek aesthetic canon, Lara reflects on the permanence of these ideals today and on how human beings continue to seek harmony, proportion, and physical and mental perfection as forms of identity and expression.
"Custodians of the Canon in Glass" also establishes a dialogue between the natural and the technical, the ephemeral and the permanent. In his works, the artist incorporates elements of nature —such as leaves, flowers, and branches— integrating them into the compositions and creating a connection between organic matter and artistic representation. In this way, classical beauty ceases to be a reference from the past and transforms and adapts to the present, in a context marked by technology, the image, and new forms of expression.
During the opening, Frank Lara shared with attendees some aspects of his artistic proposal and the creative process behind the works that make up the exhibition.
The exhibition will remain open to the public at the Altos de Chavón Art Gallery until Saturday, October 17, 2026, inviting residents and visitors to the area to approach this proposal that connects art, nature, spirituality, and the classical ideals of beauty with a contemporary perspective.
