Exhibition “SOLO LABARCA” Opens its Doors in Altos de Chavón

The Altos de Chavón gallery was the setting for the opening of the SOLO LABARCA exhibition, a solo show by artist Gerardo Labarca, presented on Friday, September 5, 2025. The collection exhibits works that reflect his artistic evolution and his deep exploration of visual language as a means of authenticity and transformation.

Labarca, a self-taught artist of Venezuelan origin based in Montreal since 1993, left behind a successful career in gastronomy, where he led two restaurants recognized among Canada's top ten, to dedicate himself fully to his artistic vocation. His work, with an experimental and emotional approach, is distinguished by an authentic visual narrative, focusing on the human and animal figure as channels for introspection and connection.

During the evening, a talk was held in which Labarca shared the origins of his artistic motivation and his vision of art as an exercise in internal listening. In his words: “True artistic expression lies in the ability to listen to oneself without being contaminated by external opinions,” a statement that resonated deeply with the attendees.

The public had the opportunity to interact with the artist in an intimate and enriching environment, prior to the official opening of the exhibition, which was accompanied by a toast with drinks and light appetizers. The event concluded at 8:30 p.m., leaving attendees with a strong impression of the artist's creative universe.

The SOLO LABARCA exhibition will be open to the public until October 5th, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., offering a unique opportunity to discover the work of an artist who has managed to turn his life story into an honest and moving visual experience.
