La Romana. Last Tuesday, August 15, the Casa de Campo Country Club celebrated the Italian holiday known as Ferragosto with a friendly golf tournament and a dinner with live music.

The word Ferragosto originates from the Latin term Feriae Augusti (August's holidays). This historical figure, the first Roman emperor in history, established a celebration in 18 BC that would unite, in a single feast, the ancient gatherings organized to commemorate the end of agricultural work.

As the centuries passed, the festival gained more and more popularity until it became the current celebration on August 15th, which also coincides with an important Catholic date: the day of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.

It is worth noting that Casa de Campo has a significant community of Italian residents and visitors, which is why the resort's authorities are replicating this important cultural celebration in this Caribbean area.

The golf tournament was held at the Country Club golf course starting at 1:00 PM, with approximately 20 golfers participating, including men and women from the Casa de Campo community. Meanwhile, amidst laughter and pleasant conversation, dinner began at 8:00 PM, where guests enjoyed delicious dishes and an exquisite musical performance.
