An afternoon of dialogues in Chavón: Reconciling the body with menopause

La Terraza de Voalá was the setting for a meeting marked by warmth and camaraderie. Under the title “Does This Happen to You Too? Menopause and the Female Body: Understanding Changes to Reconcile With Our Bodies,” an enthusiastic group of women from the Casa de Campo community gathered to openly discuss a vital stage that, though universal, is often experienced in silence.

The event began at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, April 8th, set by the sunset light and a carefully curated selection of cocktails and appetizers that fostered an atmosphere of openness. More than a masterclass, the evening turned into a fluid conversation where attendees shared experiences, doubts, and curiosities in a space of absolute trust.

The event was hosted by Dr. Aridia Vásquez, a clinical nutritionist and specialist in Eating Disorders (EDs). With the authority granted by over two decades of experience and her international leadership in the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals Foundation (iaedp™), Dr. Vásquez addressed the topic from a perspective that combined scientific evidence with a deeply human perspective.

During her presentation, the specialist called for empathetic curiosity. She urged those present to view the changes in their bodies not as enemies, but as natural processes that require understanding and professional guidance. Additionally, she emphasized the importance of talking about the issue, socializing it, and seeking specialists when necessary, as this is the first step toward reconciliation. Vásquez promotes a vision of holistic well-being and acceptance of body image at all stages.

The event concluded with the shared sentiment that menopause, far from being a taboo, is a chapter that deserves to be lived with information, community support, and, above all, with respect for one's own physical and emotional history.
