From January 29th to February 1st, the spirit of community and love for the game once again gathered on the fairways of La Romana Country Club during the successful celebration of «Member Guest» Golf Tournament Álvaro Silva Cup 2026. This landmark event, honoring the legacy of a key founding partner, reaffirmed its place as a pillar in the membership's social and sporting calendar, bringing together 45 member and guest couples (39 male and 6 female) for four days of healthy competition, connection, and fun with the largest number of registered players in the history of the Cup.
The week kicked off with an elegant welcome cocktail, setting the tone for a series of days where sportsmanship and elegance took center stage. The match play in best ball format for gentlemen and the qualifying scramble and best ball rounds for ladies tested the skill and strategy of each team. From early tee times under the Caribbean sun to the decisive elimination matches on Saturday, every hole witnessed brilliant plays and competitive spirit.
The tournament's climax arrived with Saturday's thrilling midday shootout, where the winners of each flight competed in a tense and exciting playoff that kept everyone on the edge of their seats. The evening culminated in a dinner and awards ceremony where the talent and effort of all participants were recognized. In an atmosphere of shared joy, trophies and prizes were presented to the champions of each category, crowning the teams that demonstrated outstanding excellence throughout the intense competition.
The winners of the women's category were Marcella Betonni y Juanita Albuja, while in the men's category, the champions were Pedro Dajer y Robert Jones, who took home the honors of this prestigious tournament. Beyond the results, the tournament stood out for its exceptional hospitality. Participants enjoyed daily lunches, themed dinners, and leisure moments that strengthened bonds of friendship.
