The Altos de Chavón Art Gallery unveils Wonderland, a new exhibition by artist Stepanova

Last Friday, January 9th, marked the inauguration of Wonderland, Stepanova's latest exhibition, at the Altos de Chavón Art Gallery. The opening brought together a diverse audience for an evening characterized by a warm, engaging, and dynamic atmosphere.

The inaugural event featured a toast, finger food tasting, and live music, elements that smoothly complemented the gallery tour and fostered a close connection between the artwork and the attendees. During the opening, a brief conceptual introduction was offered, allowing the public to delve directly into the artist's creative universe.

Wonderland invites the viewer to immerse themselves in a world of fantasy, secret gardens, and references to classic fairy tales. Through a seemingly sweet and charming aesthetic, the exhibition proposes a deeper reflection on the construction of contemporary ideals and narratives. In this context, the series "Almost Perfect" is presented, starring teddy bears that, from their visual innocence, offer a critique of current beauty standards.

Each piece in the series is unique: the hand-painted bears are distinguished by subtle variations in color and form that celebrate individuality. The collection arises from Stepanova's personal experience after participating in a beauty pageant, facing social pressures and demands regarding physical appearance. By scaling up the teddy bear figure, the artist transforms it into a symbol of the emotional weight that many people—especially women—carry when trying to conform to imposed ideals.

The work questions the notion of perfection promoted by the media, social networks, and fantasy narratives, leaving open a reflection on the acceptance of uniqueness and authentic beauty. The pieces invite silent and emotional contemplation, generating an intimate dialogue between the work and the viewer.

During the inauguration, Stepanova had a close encounter with the public, sharing impressions and discussing her creative process, which enriched the evening's experience and reinforced the exhibition's community spirit.

As part of the programming linked to Wonderland, the artist has expressed interest in developing special activities during the upcoming weekends, particularly on Saturdays. Among these are an abstract painting workshop for women and an artistic activity for children. Details of these initiatives will be announced soon through social media and other communication channels.

The exhibition will also feature a closing activity, details of which will be communicated in due course. The Altos de Chavón Art Gallery invites the public to stay tuned to its cultural programming and its upcoming opening, scheduled for February 12.
