Last Friday, July 11, the Altos de Chavón Art Gallery celebrated the successful closing of the exhibition “Essential Strokes” by Argentine visual artist Susana Gíser, with an evening that merged art, dance, and gastronomy to offer an authentic and unforgettable cultural experience.

As part of the closing program, renowned dancers Jorge Colombatti and Natalia Crescitelli offered a captivating performance of four tango dances, carefully selected to reflect different facets of the genre. The repertoire also included pieces by celebrated Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla, whose avant-garde style brought an emotional and profound nuance to the evening, evoking the expressive richness of contemporary tango.

Beyond the visual and stage experience, attendees enjoyed an exquisite gastronomic detail: authentic Argentine empanadas, specially prepared for the occasion by the Casa de Campo Hotel team, following the recipe of Culinary Director Rodrigo Menéndez. The Gallery extends special thanks to both Rodrigo and the Food and Beverage team for their constant support in these types of events, through the Banquets department.

Since its opening on June 14th, “Essential Strokes” offered a deep dive into essentialist art, showcasing works that reduce artistic expression to its purest elements: form, color, and line. The exhibition was supported by the Argentine Embassy in the Dominican Republic and featured the presence of Ambassador Sandra Winkler during its inauguration.

With this emotional evening, the Altos de Chavón Art Gallery team concluded an exhibition that left its mark, reaffirming their commitment to promoting art and culture in the Caribbean.
