The British Chamber of Commerce held its British Polo Cup, in its 10th edition

The British Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (BRITCHAM) celebrated its 10th Annual British Polo Cup in grand style on March 1st of this year, at the exclusive polo field of Casa de Campo, in La Romana, in honor of the memory and legacy of Don Carlos Morales Troncoso, whose passion and love for this sport left an indelible mark on the history of the Dominican Republic.

The Casa de Campo team reached the final against the La Carmela team. It was a 6-chukker sporting spectacle of pure enthusiasm, with both teams tying as champions in this 10th edition of the Polo Cup.

The honorary first serve was done by the daughters of Mr. Carlos Morales, Cecil, Nicole, Ivette, and Michelle, kicking off a dynamic match that featured a strong presence of sponsoring brands.

The referee was Federico Martelli, overseeing a match with exceptional plays. The tournament was co-organized with Fernando Arata, director of the Polo Club at Casa de Campo.

The British Chamber took the opportunity to recognize outstanding Dominican companies that have contributed to the country's economic development and have played a fundamental role in strengthening bilateral ties between the United Kingdom and the Dominican Republic. The recognized companies were EGE Haina, Casa Brugal, Autobritánica, United Brands, and CEPM – Energas.

“It was an event for the whole family, which brought together distinguished guests and polo lovers, in a celebration of sportsmanship, elegance, and the bilateral ties between the United Kingdom and the Dominican Republic,” expressed Nicole Toribio, Executive Vice President of Britcham. She added that even more importantly, an important cause will be supported.

More than RD$2,800,000.00 was raised, which will be used to support the needs of children through Hogar del Niño and Save the Children Dominican Republic, with a focus on developing reading and comprehension skills in children in grades 1 through 4 of elementary school.
