Casa de Campo Celebrates the Grand Finale of Café de la Leche 2024

Last Saturday, December 7th, Mrs. Xiomara de Menéndez organized the grand finale of Café de la Leche 2024 at her villa in Casa de Campo. As is tradition every December, the event's goal was to collect candies and treats for the Christmas goodie bags that were given to the children of the Hogar del Niño.

An event full of generosity and community where a large part of the ladies from the Casa de Campo community gathered between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., enjoying an afternoon of laughter, stories, and friendship. Attendees were able to enjoy a varied buffet with appetizers and Christmas punch, while contributing their bit to this noble cause.

The origin of Café de la Leche

Since its founding in September 2001 by Mónica Dávila, Claudia Dávila, and Alessandra Avanzini, Café de la Leche has brought together families and friends on the first Friday of every month to collect milk, cereal, and formula for the babies at Hogar del Niño. Today, this initiative covers 80% of the milk consumption at the Hogar’s Children’s Ward, where more than 250 babies are cared for daily, with more than 900 bottles provided each day.

What does the Children's Home do?

El Hogar del Niño is a unique institution in La Romana, which opens its doors every day to more than 2,000 children and young people from newborns to 18 years old. It offers an inclusive education that integrates deaf children and children with special needs, as well as essential services such as food, medical care, psychological support, and extracurricular activities like sports, art, and dance.
