The La Romana Bayahibe Hotel Association successfully concluded its XI La Romana Golf Tournament last weekend, honoring Rafael Blanco Canto, Executive Vice President of the Viva Resorts by Wyndham chain.
The tournament format was a Team Scramble, which made for an exciting and competitive day for all participants. The event had a charitable purpose, as part of the funds raised were donated to the Solca Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting children and families in vulnerable situations in the Dominican Republic.
First place in the men's A category went to Carlos Medrano and Enrique Rodríguez, with an impressive score of 63 strokes, while in category B, Rylcdamn Linares and Joan Ortega were crowned winners, with a total of 65 strokes. In the women's category, the winners were Rhina Espaillat and Mabel Castillo, with a score of 77 strokes. The best gross score was achieved by the pair formed by Freddy Almonte and Luis Escolástico, with an excellent result of 61 strokes.
Mr. Rafael Blanco Canto addressed those present with these words: “In this context, the XI La Romana Golf Tournament is an event that is not only an opportunity to enjoy the sport but also highlights the importance of golf in the region and its fundamental role in Dominican tourism.”
For his part, Mr. Andrés Fernández, president of the AHRB, expressed: «This golf tournament is not only a sports competition, but also an opportunity for us to unite and celebrate together the beauty and charm of the La Romana Destination.”
Finally, Ana García-Sotoca, Executive Director of the association, stated: “The La Romana Bayahibe Hotel Association is very grateful and excited to see the number of golfers and sponsors who joined to make this traditional tournament possible. I also want to recognize the hard work and dedication of all the volunteers who participated in organizing the event. We hope to see you next year.”
