In 1986, the iconic Dominican artist Fernando Villalona captivated the audience at the nascent Altos de Chavón amphitheater, which had already hosted global superstars like the distinguished Frank Sinatra, Buddy Rich, Santana, Joan Jett, and Heart.

Thirty-seven years later, “El Niño Mimado” returned in grand style to this very location last Saturday night, August 12th, with another memorable and emotion-filled show, masterfully produced by the companies Big Show Pro and Casa de Campo to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this emblematic stone venue.

“I was very aware of wanting to do it again, and thank you, Lord, for putting these people here at the Altos de Chavón stones, some of whom were here that day, 37 years ago, in 1986. Thank you, Father, this is the greatest blessing you have given me tonight,” the artist expressed very emotionally amidst the cheers of the crowd.

With massive attendance and a completely clear sky, the venue was filled to capacity to receive the legendary performer, accompanied on many of his songs by his daughter Paloma and artists of the caliber of Omar Henriquez, Magic Juan, Sergio Vargas, Jandy Ventura, Félix Cumbe, Rubby Pérez, Pavel Núñez, Techy Fatule, Gabriel Pagán, Francisco Cruz, Lupe Valerio, Eudy Cruz, and Arturo Sanquintín.

It was, without a doubt, a night for history, in a vibrant atmosphere, where the fans“ euphoria created a unique atmosphere of celebration from the first chord of ”Seré".

Fernando Villalona captivated the audience with his charisma and unmistakable voice, making this show unforgettable for everyone present with a repertoire that included 36 of his greatest hits in merengue, ballad, and bolero, such as “Mi pueblo,” “Y te amo solo,” “Quijote,” “Penélope,” “Te amo demasiado,” “Payaso,” “Sonámbulo,” among others.

With a luxurious production, which integrated excellent dancers and the accompaniment of an unparalleled orchestra strengthened by four choristers (Chantal Villalona, Nicole Lazala, René Geraldino, and Emmanuel Burgos) and 16 musicians, under the direction of maestro Manuel Tejada, the artist gave his all, sharing his talent through songs that have remained in the memory of Dominicans.

The first of his guests to take the stage was Venezuelan Omar Henriquez, achieving an impeccable duet to the rhythm of “Cama y mesa.” Meanwhile, Magic Juan and Arturo Sanquintín accompanied him on “La lluvia,” and Luis Valerio joined to masterfully perform “Tatico Henríquez.”.

In the medley that the production dubbed “Merengue Riders,” the crowd’s jubilation was immediate from the moment they heard Sergio Vargas with “Amaneciendo,” Jandy Ventura sang “La hamaquita,” and Francisco Cruz performed “Félix Cumbé” alongside Villalona.

Other luxury guests that the crowd enjoyed from start to finish were Eudy Cruz, to the rhythm of “Muchachita mía”; Gabriel Pagán combined perfectly with El Mayimbe when performing “Confundido”; Pavel Núñez charmed the thousands of attendees with “Háblame mi vida” and “Vida consentida”; Paloma Villalona did it masterfully with her father to the beat of the merengue “Me muero por ti”; Rubby Pérez won the hearts of the audience with the rhythm “Pato robao”, as did Techy Fatule with the sweetness of her voice which gave another nuance to “Delirante amor” and “Que me quedes tú”.
