Last Friday, June 14th, the Altos de Chav\u00f3n Art Gallery kicked off a memorable artistic evening with the inauguration of \u201cEssential Strokes,\u201d a solo exhibition by the renowned Argentine artist Susana G\u00edser, who is presenting her work in the Dominican Republic for the first time. The exhibition, which will be open to the public until July 14, 2025, has the endorsement of the Embassy of Argentina, represented by its ambassador, Mrs. Sandra Winkler, who actively participated in the opening ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Starting at 6:30 p.m., the inaugural cocktail reception brought together personalities from the national art scene, members of the Argentine community in the country, art students, and lovers of contemporary painting. The event also included an enriching conversation between the artist, Ambassador Sandra Winkler, and the Manager of Altos de Chav\u00f3n and Director of the Gallery, Luciana Goldfain, in which the motivations and creative process behind G\u00edser's work were explored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the talk, Susana G\u00edser shared her vision of art as an exercise in profound authenticity with the audience. \u201cI don't follow trends or artifice. I paint from the essential, from what comes out of my being and is imprinted on the canvas,\u201d she expressed intensely. Her works, charged with vital energy and free of embellishments, evoke internal landscapes and universal emotions, establishing a direct dialogue with the viewer. \u201cA work that doesn't have a soul isn't a work of art. A work of art is one that has the artist's soul,\u201d she stated, as advice to young creators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For her part, Ambassador Sandra Winkler highlighted the spiritual value of art and its capacity to build bridges between cultures:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSusana's proposal is a contribution to the encounter between Argentinians and Dominicans. In line with Pedro Henr\u00edquez Ure\u00f1a's thought, art is not a fleeting compliment, but an effort to spiritually build the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The exhibition is spread across the two levels of the gallery, where each piece invites you to pause, observe, and feel. As the artist herself described, the creative process is a form of meditation in which \u201cthe blank canvas challenges the soul,\u201d and where the rational gives way to a free, intuitive, and profoundly human expression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
