Last Saturday, February 22, 2025, the traditional thank-you dinner for the generous donors of the Phyllis Berney Adopt-A-Crib Program was held, benefiting Hogar del Ni\u00f1o. The event, organized by Mrs. Xiomara Men\u00e9ndez and her husband Ram\u00f3n at La Marina Riverside, Casa de Campo, brought together collaborators committed to the mission of ensuring the well-being and education of more than 2,000 children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Founded in 1998 by Ms. Phyllis Berney, this program has become the largest source of income for the center, enabling the continuity of its essential services, such as nutrition, healthcare, psychological support, and innovative technology-focused education. Thanks to this initiative, the Hogar del Ni\u00f1o has managed to expand and improve its facilities, consolidating itself as the most comprehensive educational and social center in the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over the course of 27 years, the program has raised more than US$$24,300,000.00, including, for the first time, a contribution of more than US$$2 million in the last year alone. Inspired by the vision of Mrs. Berney, who stated that \u201cHogar del Ni\u00f1o is the heartbeat that gives hope for the future,\u201d donors have enabled thousands of children to receive the quality care and education they deserve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/strong>El Hogar del Ni\u00f1o daily receives over 2,000 children and young people, from newborns up to 18 years of age. It is the only institution in La Romana and its surrounding areas that offers inclusive education, integrating deaf children and those with special needs. In addition to academic training, each student receives three meals daily, medical and dental care, evaluations and psychological support, as well as access to extracurricular activities such as sports, art, and dance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
